There are various yoga types, and there are many different styles of yoga being taught and practiced today. Although all of the styles are based on the same physical postures, called asanas, each has a particular emphasis or path.

This style is the most popular method of practicing yoga in the West.
Vinyasa is a more vigorous style of yoga based on the Sun Salutations.
Ashtanga, which means "eight limbs" in Sanskrit, is a fast-paced, intense style of yoga.
This type of yoga is most concerned with bodily alignment.
The emphasis in Kundalini Yoga is on freeing energy within the body.
This types of yoga is practiced in a 95 to 100 degree room.
